A little bit about me and where this blog came from. I am a native of Virginia Beach, VA who against all better judgement went on a date with a Naval Officer in the winter of 2005. I had no plans to stay long term in Virginia Beach after returning home once I finished graduate school at the University of Rhode Island. Fate had other plans and after three years of dating plus one deployment, Patrick and I were married on November 22, 2008. Finn was born on October 30, 2010.
I can't say that having a newborn was what I expected. I knew I would be sleep deprived, I knew my life would no longer be my own, but I didn't expect a high maintenance colicky baby boy who screamed for the better part of his first year. We've made it through to toddlerhood and much happier days and there is so much to look forward to. This blog celebrates that.
The idea for a blog came about after I read an article in Parents magazine stating there are only 940 Saturdays between a child's birth and when they leave for college. I couldn't stop thinking about that number and had a crazy idea to come up with 940 activities. One for each Saturday between Finn's birth and when he goes to college. Since we're already into his second year, some will have to be doubled up but like I said in the First Post it's not the number that is important.
